The celebration takes place on November 1st and 2nd. There are traditions such as including private alters honoring the deceased usuing sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts.

Celebrate the day of the dead in Seattle with these upcoming events:

October 27th – November 7th | El Día de los Muertos Tapete Display at the PACCAR Pavilion

Celebrate el Día de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) with a two-week art display at the Olympic Sculpture Park. Every year we honor a beloved tradition with a bright tapete (Mexican sand painting)."

October 30th | Dia de Muertos – A Mexican Remembrance to Remember Our Departed at the Seattle Center

"Dia de Muertos or "Day of the Dead" joins together tradition, culture and art. It is a celebration where remembering our departed is to remember what has been our history. It is to keep alive the very deepest of our roots, where indigenous and Spanish roots intertwine in traditional community altars, sugar skulls, sand painting, special foods, candles, processions, music and dance."

12 pm: Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Activities for Kids at the Kent Library. "Join us during Spanish Story Time for a special celebration of this traditional Mexican holiday. We will be hearing Mexican stories, making sugar skulls and enjoying refreshments."

October 31st | Dia de Muertos – A Mexican Remembrance to Remember Our Departed at the Seattle Center

November 2 – 19th | El Centro de la Raza's Ofrenda Exhibit

A tribute to Las Adelitas, "revolutionary women of strength and courage."

November 5th | El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Art Reception at Olympic Sculpture Park

"Join us for a special celebration in honor of el Día de los Muertos. Festivities will include music, art making, food and more! We will be joined by the artists who created the annual Día de los Muertos tapete display. Please RSVP for this art reception."

Boats, Blues, Parades, Milk Carton Derby Boats, Pirates, Triathlons, Fun Runs, Parties and Community Events…it's Seattle's Summer Celebration. Join the rest of the Seattle-ites and celebrate the chance to soak up the sun in the Pacific Northwest at Seafair. Friday, August 5th through Sunday, August 7th is Seafair Weekend featuring the Albert Lee Cup and Boeing Air Show.

Sasquatch Festival Line-up Announced

The line-up for the 2011 Sasquatch festival was announced tonight, and it looks like it's going to be a great festival! This year there will be four days instead of the usual three, which means a whole extra day of awesome music. This year's line-up includes Death Cab For Cutie, The Flaming Lips, Cold War Kids, Local Natives, Modest Mouse, Wilco and many more. . Tickets are now on sale for $285.00 for 4-day passes via Livenation. Prices will go up on Monday, Feb. 14 to $295.00, which is also the day single day tickets will go on sale for $79.50 each.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! We'll be rooting for Texas to beat Texas A&M on Thanksgiving day in Austin. It's a big game, their rivalry is one of the nations oldest college football rivalries, and It's the 117th time the two schools have met on a gridiron. This is also the last time the two will meet as Big 12 South opponents.

Texas vs. OU Tomorrow!

The Red River Rivalry, Texas vs OU, is tomorrow!! Since 1932 the game has been held at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, during the second weekend of October during the State Fair of Texas. In honor of the State Fair we have Specials this Weekend: Old Fashion Corn Dogs, Ribeye Steak Sandwich with Onion Rings and Chicken Fried Steak with Texas Creamy Gravy. Game starts at 12:30 with Drink Specials during the first half!
